While I was working in Beijing,
I was on a stupid restricted visa which only allowed me to stay in mainland
China for 30 days per stay. Usually, this means a quick trip to Hong Kong,
but since I was already in Beijing (which is in Northern China), I figured
I'd take a quick holiday to neighboring Mongolia (not to be confused with
Inner Mongolia which is part of China). My plan was to fly from
Beijing to Ulaanbaatar (the capital) and make my way back to China via
local trains. The first thing you notice when you fly into Ulaanbaatar
is that the airport is named after their great hero Genghis Khan, which
apparently is properly spelled "Chinggis Khaan." |
