Our first full night in Sanming
(the first day we arrived at 3am) we went out for dinner with some of
Melody's high school friends. After dinner we did what most Chinese people
do for after dinner entertainment...karaoke! Unlike the US where we have
karaoke singers in bars, Chinese karaoke (or KTV as it is called in the
local vernacular) is typically done in private rooms with your friends,
as you can see from this picture. The rooms come with the sound system,
TV screen, couches, and sometimes a private bathroom. You pay for the
rooms by hour, and also order food and drinks from waitresses who come
around to check on you every fifteen minutes or so..
