The main thing Tianjin is famous for is being next to Beijing.  Considering how big of a city it is, very few tourists ever go there.  However, I found it to be a really nice, manageable, big city with a lot of character and decent architecture (the latter is hard to come by in China).  The is one of the main walking streets downtown.
